Yogi Ashokananda
Yogi Ashokananda is an expert and pioneer as a practising master of yoga and meditation and a speaker on humanity and spiritual philosophy. Raised in India, he has been practising yoga since early childhood when his Grandfather was his first teacher. Over many years Yogi Ashokananda has been fortunate to develop his teaching, experience and education of yoga under some of the great, remote, Indian masters and siddhas. Yogi teaches a number of his own profound disciplines and insights, which have their roots in ancient, sacred Indian tradition.
He opened his first Ashram in 2007 in Vrindaban and the Sita Devi School project 2007 in North India to support the education of local underprivileged children. We are delighted that he started to build the Yogi Ashokananda Foundation at the Ashok Tree Ashram in South India to support students and the local community.
Ian Lewis
Ian has been studying and practicing yoga since 1965, beginning with Swami Bramachari Ji. He had the privilege of studying and learning from Swami Rudra Dev and Yogi Ashokananda. Two teachers and his friends who have guided and supported him on his yogic path are Justin Herold, Thailand and Emil Wendel, Bali. He has lived in India for the past 40 years studying at different schools of yoga, including Iyengar Yoga directly from Guruji, Prashant ji and Rudra Dev, Himayalan Hatha Yoga and Prana Kriya Yoga from Yogi Ashokananda. He is a great teacher and is very precise with his movement and alignment of asana and great knowledge of Pranayama and Meditation.
Anthea Aireton-Downer
Anthea first became “serious” about Yoga in the mid 90’s. As her yoga practice evolved experiencing a number of different styles over the years, she eventually developed a strong self-practice. She completed her first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Qualification, with the British Wheel of Yoga.
As a teacher, she strongly believes that “a certificate” is only a small part of the journey and she continued to look for ways to improve her own practice. Her search led her to meet Yogi Ashokananda in October, 2012 and in 2014 she undertook 200-hour Teacher Training in Himalayan Hatha Yoga with him; and subsequently undertook further courses in Meditation and Prana Kriya Yoga.
Anthea enjoys flowing sequences, which is evident in her teaching, as well as holding. In her classes you can expect to be challenged, whether you are a beginner or more accomplished.
